This is T-Lo. T-Lo grew up with his brothers and sisters in a den in the woods of Greenville, Wisconsin, a small town just outside of Appleton. From a very early age T-Lo knew that he LOVED music. Any kind of music.
Like many of us, T-Lo didn’t know what he wanted to do when he grew up, but he knew it had to have something to do with music. So where do you go if you love music? Nashville, Tennessee! He packed up his stuff, said his goodbyes, and headed south.
It was a long trip from Greenville to Nashville, so he had to make several stops along the way. One day T-Lo happened upon a town called Yorkville, Illinois. As he trotted into the quaint, little downtown, he could swear he heard music. He followed the sound and found himself in front of a sign that read “The Law Office”. Music? From a law office?
T-Lo stepped inside and was greeted by a smiling, bearded man behind the bar, whose stature was overshadowed only by his lively demeanor. Then T-Lo’s eyes were drawn to the stage, where, sure enough, a band was playing! It was an intimate venue, and the music filled the room like daydreams on a summer day. He plopped himself down and took it all in. Law books filled one wall, watched over by a pink elephant and several metal beastie sculptures. Amazing art adorned the walls nearest the stage. The wood bar looked like it had seen a lot of history. A wine barrel rimmed with spigots served up a multitude of craft beers. And the lighting was a mixture of eclectic pendants and string lights that wrapped around the chalkboard menu, advertising drinks with names that made T-Lo chuckle.
But, other than the music, the best part of T-Lo’s little find was the people enjoying the music and each other. When the band was done, T-Lo started up a conversation with the bartender, Ben, and the iron-armed sprite of a woman next to him, Danella. They unveiled the history of The Law Office—that it really was once a law office, along with many other things. including a farm implement store and even the high school for a bit.
As the band members trickled over, T-Lo thanked them for the amazing performance, and they easily slipped into a discussion of all things music. T-Lo remarked on what a fabulous respite this was before he set off to Nashville again in the morning. But Ben told T-Lo that if he loved music, he HAD to stay for the shows they had coming up. The Law Office showcased all kinds of bands – rock, blues, country, jazz. And no one should miss the Summer Solstice Indie Music Festival on the banks of the mighty Fox River! Two days of live music, craft beer, and food trucks! And since T-Lo was so enamored with the art at The Law Office, Danella asked if he wanted to become a work of art, with a colorful new fur coat (his own, of course) to suit his unique personality, created live at the festival! He certainly wasn’t going to turn that down!
For the first time, T-Lo thought maybe he didn’t have to go all the way to Nashville to find his musical wonderland. Maybe Yorkville and The Law Office (TLO for short) was where he was meant to be.
